Is selective pallet rack the same as pallet racking?

Yes. When most Clearwater buyers say pallet racks they mean selective rack: upright frames joined by beam pairs, one pallet deep, with every load reachable from the aisle. It is the most common style in Pinellas warehouses.

Is pushback first-in, first-out?

No. It is last-in, first-out: the most recent pallet loaded is the first one picked. If your product needs strict date rotation, pallet flow rack is usually the better comparison.

Does pallet flow rack work in a freezer?

Yes, when it is specified for it. Cold affects how rollers and speed controllers behave, so we size the lane for the freezer temperature you run. Many Pinellas grocery and food operations use flow lanes in cold storage for exactly this reason.

What is the difference between drive in and drive through rack?

Drive-in lanes have one entry, so they work last-in, first-out. Drive-through lanes open at both ends for first-in, first-out. Rotation needs decide which one we draw.

What kinds of material work best on cantilever rack?

Long or bulky items: pipe, tube, lumber, plywood sheets, steel bar, aluminum extrusions, and boat or marine components. If it overhangs a standard beam rack, cantilever is worth a look.

What is the difference between carton flow rack and carton flow shelving?

Carton flow rack usually means flow beds installed in pallet rack frames. Carton flow shelving refers to standalone shelving units with flow lanes. Both use the same gravity wheel beds.

Choosing Between Rack Types

Four things decide the answer: how many SKUs you carry, how many pallets you hold of each one, how fast product turns, and how much height the building gives you.

Many SKUs with a pallet or two each point to selective pallet rack. Several pallets of the same item favor pushback. Date-driven rotation calls for pallet flow. Large volumes of a few items in a tight footprint suit drive-in. Long material needs cantilever, and case picking needs carton flow.
